Program Goals
The goals of the study program are as follows:
- Proficiency in Russian as a foreign language at the C1 / C2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
- Introducing students to the subject and methods of linguistic and literary research, with the development and current status of the Russian language as a science and profession;
- Mastery of linguistic and literary concepts and theoretical systems;
- Introducing students to the subject and basic linguistic and literary theories and methods in teaching Russian as a foreign language;
- Educating students for the application of basic translation techniques from one Slavic language to another, as well as for independent translation of literary and professional texts from Russian into Serbian and vice versa;
- Training students to work in education and to participate in economic, social and business activities and associations;
- Formation of communicative and (inter) cultural competence for understanding and analysis of the culture of the Russian-speaking area and comparison with one's own culture.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of BA studies of the Russian language and literature, students:
- Gain a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the field, basic methods, development and current status of Russian studies;
- Master, understand and apply linguistic, translation and literary concepts in their work;
- Master the basic scientific research methods in the field of Russian language and literature, didactic and methodological principles and methods in teaching Russian as a foreign language and the technique of translation from one Slavic language to another;
- Achieve the C1 / C2 CEFR level of Russian as a foreign language, communicative and (inter) cultural competence with the ability to understand and analyze the culture of the Russian-speaking area in comparison with their own culture;
- Independently analyze the structure of language systems and adequately and coherently interpret linguistic and literary facts in the teaching of Russian language;
- Independently monitor and evaluate their own work, form their own ethical view and methodology of the phenomena they deal with, in accordance with the general moral principles and the code of ethics of the profession; recognize the need for continuous education and ensure team communication.
Requirements of Enrollment
A certificate of four-year secondary education is necessary in order to apply for the first year of study. Upon application, candidates must take an entrance exam which consists of a test of knowledge of Russian or Serbian, or another foreign language. The final ranking list of candidates for enrollment is formed on the basis of their secondary education transcripts of records and their entrance exam results.
Employment Options
After completing their BA studies, students will be able to apply scientific and professional achievements in the field of Russian language and literature in various fields:
- for educational purposes and the application of pedagogy, psychology and methodology in teaching Russian in primary and secondary schools;
- for various types of translation work, which refers to simultaneous and consecutive translation as well as translating literary and professional texts;
- for employment in cultural institutions, as well as for participation in economic, social and business activities.
